A Quick Guide to the Planetary Atlas

Welcome - we're glad you're here

The Planetary Action Atlas is designed for people who care deeply about the planet but only have 5–10 minutes a week to give. If that’s you, you’re in the right place.

This page will help you understand what the Atlas is, why it exists, and how to use it in a way that feels simple, meaningful, and sustainable.

What the Atlas is

The Planetary Action Atlas is:

  • A global map of meaningful climate actions

  • A place to record your own daily contribution

  • A way to see your impact add up - personally and collectively

  • A daily act of care that builds momentum over time

Every action you record becomes part of a growing global signal of commitment and possibility.

How the Atlas Works

You're invited to join the "A" Team!  To help keep the Atlas free from 'bots, the first time you visit the site, you'll be asked to verify your email address by entering a one-time code.  (Please see our email section below to help make sure our emails get through.)  After that, you can submit as often as you like from that email address from that browser.  If you choose to use a different browser in future then no worries - you'll just do another loop with the one-time code.

All contributions are anonymized before being posted to the Atlas and we will never share your email.  You can read our full Atlas email use and privacy policy here.

Once you confirm your email with the code, you'll see a screen like the one below.  Each day, you can choose up to seven meaningful actions across three categories, but you don't need to do all seven - even one meaningful choice is enough.

It's easy!  The "Do our best" Action can be as simple as remembering to turn off the lights before you leave the house to save on costs and energy.  See more ideas below.

Click at least one box to tell us what you did and then choose your country from in the drop-down list.  There's an optional text box if you want to tell us more about your sustainable actions.

When you're done, click the "Count me in!" box underneath.

When you click Count me in:

  • Your action is added to your country’s daily counter

  • You receive a thank‑you email from us with a quote and original artwork from an artist that wanted to say thank you too

  • Your contribution becomes part of a global story of momentum

It’s simple, fast, and fun.

The Best Part?

Choosing Your A Team Option

If you’re new, here are three easy entry points:

1. Increase Your Awareness

Awareness is understanding the system, learning what matters, and seeing the big picture clearly.  Watch a short video, read a quick explainer, or learn one new thing about climate and sustainability.

2. Choose one Action

Action is small, high‑impact choices that reduce emissions or help in another sustainable way.  Pick something small and doable - like bringing a reusable cup or bringing some peanuts or almonds as a snack - something that fits naturally into your day.

3. Try one Advocacy signal

Advocacy is conversations and requests that help move communities, companies, and governments.  Share an idea, ask a question, or send a message that helps move things forward - like asking your barista what your coffee shop is doing on sustainability.

There’s no wrong place to begin - start with whichever feels easiest today - the Atlas is designed to meet you where you are. Every action counts. Every molecule matters.

How Your Contribution Helps

Your daily actions:

  • Provide a signal of care from your country

  • Provide hope and inspiration to others

  • Support global sharing of new ideas

  • Shape future tools, resources, and advocacy pathways

Daily actions build identity and momentum.  And when thousands of us do them together, they create a measurable global signal of care and impact.

See how your country is doing on the Atlas dashboard and let's build momentum - one person, one minute, one action at a time.

If this is your first time using the Atlas, here’s how to make sure our emails reach you without being blocked or filtered.  Please take a moment to consider implementing these ideas as we appreciate your contribution and don't want to miss you when we send our thank you emails!

Ensuring You Receive Your Atlas Emails

Today's email servers work hard to protect us from spam and junk mail.  Some email providers - especially Outlook - can be cautious with messages from new community projects.

Your experience with the Atlas may work perfectly right away, but there are a few simple steps you can take to increase the chances you receive your verification code and "Thank You" email without interruption.

If You Use Outlook

Outlook sometimes filters new senders before they ever reach your inbox. Adding us to your Safe Senders list helps ensure smooth delivery.

Outlook.com (personal Outlook)
  1. Open Outlook.com and select Settings (the gear icon).

  2. Choose Mail → Junk email.

  3. Under Safe senders and domains, select Add.

  4. Type: possiblebydesign.org

  5. Press Enter to save.

Adding noreply@possiblebydesign.org to your Contacts also helps Outlook recognize us as trusted.

Outlook at work (Microsoft 365)

Work accounts often have stricter security settings. If you don’t see our emails after signing up, your IT team may need to allow messages from:

This is a quick update on their side and ensures your Atlas emails arrive smoothly.

If you use Gmail

Gmail usually delivers Atlas emails without any issues, but you can strengthen delivery by adding us to your Contacts:

  1. Open Gmail.

  2. Click the Google Apps grid → Contacts.

  3. Select Create contact.

  4. Add: noreply@possiblebydesign.org

Gmail treats contacts as trusted, which helps prevent mis‑filtering.

If you don’t see our email, check the Promotions tab — sometimes first‑time messages land there.

If you use another email provider

Most providers deliver Atlas messages normally. If you don’t see your thank‑you email within a minute or two, try:

  • Checking your Spam or Junk folder

  • Adding noreply@possiblebydesign.org to your Contacts

  • Marking the message as “Not spam” if you find it there

These small steps help your provider recognize Atlas messages as welcome.
